Tech News – September 2025 Issue
Hello, everyone, As we do every month, EITT brings you a summary of the technology news that made headlines. In this September 2025 edition, we take a look at a data breach in the healthcare sector, the upcoming end of support for Windows 10, and a major update to our website.
1st NEWS ITEM – Data breach at INOVIE Labosud:
The medical testing laboratory INOVIE Labosud announced that it had detected unauthorized access to certain patients' personal data.
The affected information primarily includes administrative data such as: first and last names; contact information; Social Security numbers; and information related to health insurance.
However, health data, bank account information, and passwords for patient portals were not affected by the incident.
In response to this situation, the laboratory acted swiftly by reporting the incident to the relevant authorities—including the CNIL, the ARS Occitanie, and the ANSSI—while also filing a complaint and strengthening its security measures.
Patients are advised to remain vigilant against phishing attempts or fraudulent messages that may exploit this information.
News Item 2 – The end of support for Windows 10 is approaching:
An important chapter in the history of computing is about to come to a close. Effective October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10.
In practical terms, this means the operating system will no longer receive security updates, patches for new vulnerabilities, or technical improvements. Computers that remain on Windows 10 will therefore become increasingly vulnerable to cyberthreats.
Since its launch in 2015, Windows 10 has served millions of users around the world. Microsoft is now focusing its efforts on Windows 11 and future developments in its ecosystem.
Users are advised to back up their data regularly and plan ahead for their transition to a compatible solution.
