In this October 2025 edition, we take a look back at a global Internet outage that disrupted many online services, a major cyberattack targeting the French Shooting Federation, and a new discovery in computer science regarding how colors appear on our screens.

🌍 Top Story – A global Internet outage disrupts service for millions of users

On October 20, 2025, a major outage affected part of the Internet, causing disruptions to many services used on a daily basis.

For several hours, platforms such as Snapchat, Amazon, Fortnite, and Canva, as well as several streaming services and online applications, experienced significant disruptions. Some users were unable to log in, while others encountered pages that would not load or experienced particularly long response times.

Initial analyses showed that the incident stemmed from a failure affecting certain Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services, combined with an issue related to the DNS system, which is essential for allowing users to access websites.

Although the infrastructure has been gradually restored, this outage serves as a reminder of an important reality: a large portion of the Internet today relies on just a few major infrastructure providers. When an incident occurs at one of them, the consequences can quickly be felt on a global scale.

This event also underscores the importance for businesses to have business continuity solutions and architectures in place that can limit the impact of such incidents.

⚠️ 2nd NEWS ITEM – The French Shooting Federation Falls Victim to a Cyberattack

Between October 18 and 20, 2025, the French Shooting Federation (FFTir) announced that it had been the victim of a cyberattack that led to a data breach affecting more than 270,000 licensed members.

The compromised information primarily consists of personal identification data and administrative information used in connection with sports licenses.

At this stage, the federation has stated that no banking information or passwords were compromised. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact source of the attack and the scope of the data involved.

As with any data breach, those affected are urged to remain vigilant against phishing attempts, fraudulent calls, or emails impersonating the federation.

This latest incident serves as yet another reminder that sports associations, local governments, and federations are also prime targets for cybercriminals, just like large corporations.

To wrap up this summary, let's take a look at a little tech discovery!

Par exemple :

Every computer, smartphone, and television screen uses the RGB color model—RGB stands for Red, Green, and Blue.

Each pixel on your screen is made up of three tiny subpixels in these colors. By varying their intensity, it's possible to reproduce more than 16 million different colors.

For example:

🔴 Red + 🟢 Green = Yellow

🔴 Red + 🔵 Blue = Magenta

🟢 Green + 🔵 Blue = Cyan

🔴 + 🟢 + 🔵 at maximum intensity = White

⚫ All three colors turned off = Black
